🔧Types of Fuel Injector :

- A fuel injector is a mechanical device which is controlled electronically and is mainly used to inject or spray fuel on the engine in order to prepare the correct mixture of air and fuel which returns in efficient combustion to the engine.

The position of the fuel injectors varies for differently designed engines but mostly these are mounted on the head of the engine with a tip inside the combustion chamber of the engine.

💡Throttle Body Injectors (TBI):
  • Description: These injectors are mounted on the throttle body, and they deliver fuel into the throttle body similar to a carburetor. The fuel then mixes with air before entering the intake manifold.
  • Usage: Common in older vehicles as a transitional technology between carburetors and multi-point fuel injection.
🔧Multi-Point Fuel Injectors (MPFI)
  • Description: Also known as port fuel injectors, these injectors are located at each cylinder’s intake port. They deliver fuel directly into the intake manifold just before the intake valve, providing better fuel distribution and combustion efficiency.

  • Description: Specifically designed for diesel engines, these injectors deliver fuel under high pressure directly into the combustion chamber. They can be either direct or indirect injection systems.
Types:

  • Mechanical Diesel Injectors: Older systems where fuel delivery is mechanically timed.
  • Electronic Diesel Injectors: Modern systems controlled by an engine control unit (ECU) for more precise fuel delivery.
